The Showdown

The Nub TV Showdown went down last week in Longport, NJ. It was the first event in a series of four which featured a live stunt show at high noon, games, prizes and even a special guest appearance by The Legend. The groms thrived in conditions that were small but highly contestable. At noon the surfing was put on pause, and everyone on the beach turned their attention to The Amazing Hob for his death-defying jump. Following a western theme, the divisions included Rattle Snakes, Sheriffs, The Shoot Out (open division) and Cow Girls. The event concluded with the John Waynes division where some of the top local pros put on an extraordinary display of surfing in front of an open panel of judges. This panel consisted of anyone in attendance, and the scores were determined by how rowdy the crowd got watching each surfer. A good ole time was had by all and custom trophies were handed out to the finalists along with prizes.
